History of MPI Papermills in Portneuf, Quebec, Canada

Our Story

Founded in 1975 with a small bag machine in a 5,000 square foot factory located in Toronto, Canada, Metro Paper Industries Tissue Group grew to become one of North America’s leading vertically integrated manufacturers of recycled paper products serving the foodservice, hygiene, janitorial, away from home and retail markets.

The MPI Group emerged as a leader in the foodservice and away from home market throughout North America.

By 2014 Metro Paper Industries Tissue Group had grown its business to include 3 Converting Plants located in Toronto and Trenton, Ontario and Carthage, New York as well as 1 paper mill capable of producing 25,000 tons of paper located in Portneuf, Quebec. The manufacturing operations totaled 900,000 square feet, 7,000,000 cases of converted product, and 25,000 tons of paper-making capacity.
